Abstract
Sheila Bair, Chairwoman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation between 2006 and 2011, sat down with me for an open-ended conversation during the 67th CFA Institute Annual Conference . Bair, currently Senior Advisor to the Pew Charitable Trusts and Chair of the Systemic Risk Council, is well-known for her hard-hitting approach to financial reform during and after the financial crisis.
Some of the talking points included: The role investors and the asset management industry played in the financial crisis, the potential for a monetary policy-induced shock, the danger of prescriptive regulation and the future of finance. This Practical Applications report is comprised of excerpts from our discussion, edited for clarity.
